It’s home to a wealth of historical landmarks: the majestic 15th‑century Solovetsky Monastery‑Fortress, stone labyrinths over two thousand years old, the unique church‑lighthouse on Sekirnaya Hill, and the buildings of the Solovetsky Special Purpose Camp (SLON). It also boasts the remarkable nature of the North: the stern yet captivating beauty of the White Sea, beluga whales near Beluzhy Cape, a botanical garden beyond the Arctic Circle with blooming apple trees and unique plants, and an artificial canal system connecting remote parts of the island.
